ORMOC COMMUNITY COLLEGE TWG GOES BENCHMARKING. The Technical Working Group (TWG) on the creation of a Local Tertiary Institution (Community College) in Ormoc City conducted a benchmarking of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela (PLV) Main Campus and its Annex Building this week.

At the said visit, the TWG, together with City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez and Leyte Fourth District Representative Richard I. Gomez, met with Dean Michville Rivera and Dr. Nedena Torralba, University President, who shared to the TWG the humble beginnings of PLV and how it evolved over the years.

Dr. Torralba put emphasis on the need to conduct a Needs Assessment to identify the courses to offer based on the demands of the city. The University President also extended her support and willingness to help Ormoc fulfill its dream of having its own Community College that will deliver “Quality Education” to all Ormocanons.

The TWG members present were SP Member Nolito Quilang, Chairperson of the Committee on Education and Manpower Development; Sabrina Duero, City Budget Officer; Engr. Raoul Cam, City Planning and Development Coordinator; Farica Zgambo-Cutas, OIC-City Human Resource and Management Office; Dr. Gerry De Cadiz, President-EVSU Ormoc City Campus; Maricel Ngo, Regional Governor-PCCI; and Stephanie Diane Chu, President-ORCHAM. Present also were SP Member Lalaine Marcos, SP Member Peter Rodriguez, SP Member Rey Evangelista, SP Gregorio Yrastorza III, Allan Nobria (Head-TESDC), April Rose Magat (Board Secretary-TESDC), Jonete Del Socorro of the City Accounting Office, Atty.
