ORMOC CITY IS 75TH SISTER CITY OF VALENZUELA. The city of Ormoc is now the 75th Sister City of Valenzuela – just in time for the former’s 75th Charter Day celebration this October 20.
This was made official after Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez and Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian signed the Sisterhood Agreement at the Valenzuela City Hall this week.
Mayor Wes and his City Vice Mayor Lorena Natividad-Borja expressed their appreciation and excitement that this sisterhood is now a reality after three months of planning, with the Vice Mayor saying, “By learning the ways of both cities, it will be beneficial to the implementation of best practices.”
On the one hand, Mayor Lucy considered the momentous event as a milestone, which will be a step forward towards the “revolution for better governance.”
After the signing, Mayor Wes toured Mayor Lucy, former Ormoc City Mayor Richard I. Gomez, now Representative of Leyte Fourth District, and their team of public servants around the Valenzuela City Hall. Finally, attending the signing were the members of the 16th Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Ormoc, Valenzuela City Councilors and Punong Barangays, and personnel of LGU-Ormoc and of LGU-Valenzuela.
