THE OVERSEAS WORKERS WELFARE ADMINISTRATION (OWWA) regional office 8, in partnership with LGU-Ormoc through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO)-Ormoc, released checks to the beneficiaries of the Balik Pinas, Balik Hanap Buhay Program (BPBH) Livelihood Program, which took place at the Ormoc City Manpower Development Conference Hall on Friday, September 30, 2022.

The said livelihood grants were given to enable Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families to start or manage a livelihood undertaking through self-employment.

According to Karen Key Manorina, OFW Help Desk In-charge of PESO-Ormoc, the said program beneficiaries received a minimum of PHP 5,000, PHP 10,000, and a maximum of PHP 20,000 each, depending on their membership status upon arrival in the country. Present during the turnover of checks to program recipients were Sangguniang Panlungsod Member Dr. Edmund Kierulf, the Chairperson of the Committee on Labor, Employment, and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs); OWWA Family Welfare Officer (FWO) Walter Marc Cantero; and Allan Nobria, Senior Manpower Development Officer V of the Ormoc Technical Education and Skills Development Center (OTESDC).
