MAYOR LUCY’S TREE OF DREAMS BEARS FRUITS. Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez has consistently said in her speeches that her “tree of dreams” can only bear fruit if it is planted on the “soil of peace”. Fortunately, Ormoc’s outstanding peace and order situation is not only enviable but is also in such a condition fertile enough to bear fruits.

True enough, Ormoc’s tree of dreams has bear many fruits this year – being hailed as a champion for Tourism (ATOP Pearl Awards 2022), a champion for environmental conservation (Local Champion for Marine Litter 2022), a champion for health (Red Orchid Hall of Famer), a champion for innovation (Double ISO Certification), a champion for resilience (Gawad Kalasag 2022-Fully Compliant), a champion for peace and order (ADAC Performance Audit 2021), and a history maker (First Barangay Merger in the Philippines).

And most recently, as an awardee of the most prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), which Mayor Lucy together with Fourth District of Leyte Representative Richard I. Gomez and CLGOO Jean Redi Briones received on December 15, 2022 at the Manila Hotel during the SGLG 2022 National Awarding Ceremony.

The award also came with an SGLG Fund Subsidy of PHP 7 million, which will be allocated, accordingly, to the improvement of the Ormoc City Plaza. Congratulations, Ormoc! Truly, in the city of beautiful people, the best is yet to come! (Grabbed from the City Government of Ormoc FB Page / EV Mail December 12-18, 2022 issue)
