ORMOC BECOMES PURPLE ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY. On March 8, 2023, the day the world celebrates International Women’s Day, purple was the color of the day for the women who gathered at the Ormoc City Superdome to celebrate a most special day.
City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez graced the event and spoke an empowering message about self-care and “letting go,” saying, “There are many avenues for women to practice self-care but today we have limited time, so I will share my final one for today. To me, it is very important to guard your space. Choose wisely, the people that you allow to surround you and influence you. Many times, we are unaware that it is “ok” to let go of people who have been toxic in our lives. Sometimes, guilt weighs heavily on us, so we continue engaging with people who don’t show us the respect we deserve. We need to know that it is ok to “Let it go. Let them go.” Let’s remember that God does not want us to suffer the ill-treatment of others.”
For this year until 2028, the celebration of National Women’s Month every March will anchor on the theme, “WE for gender equality and inclusive society.” (Grabbed from the City Government of Ormoc FB Page / EV Mail March 6-12, 2023 issue)
