TACLOBAN CITY – Two children were hacked to death by the live-in partner of their mother for alleged jealousy, Tuesday (June 10), in Sitio Cayag-ang, Brgy. San Pedro, Albuera, Leyte.
The victims, ages 4 (female) and 7 (male), were reportedly sleeping inside their house when a heated argument ensued between their mother and the suspect. This prompted the suspect to get a long-bladed weapon locally known as “sundang.” He hacked the mother and her children, hitting them in different parts of their bodies.
The suspect fled after the incident while the victims were rushed to OSPA-Farmers’ Medical Center in Ormoc City. The 4-year-old girl was declared dead on arrival, while the 7-year-old boy eventually died while being treated.
Thereafter, the Albuera Municipal Police Station nabbed the suspect in a hot pursuit operation in Ormoc City. (By Marie Tonette Marticio/EV Mail JUNE 9-15, 2025 issue)
