TACLOBAN CITY – A Pre-Deployment Orientation and the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) by and between the members of the Doctors to the Barrios (DTTB) Program Batch 42A and the Department of Health (DOH) took place at the Madison Park Hotel, Tacloban City on January 24, 2025.

The said activity was led by Regional Director Exuperia B. Sabalberino of DOH-Eastern Visayas Center for Health Development. DTTB is a Philippine government program that sends doctors to rural areas without physicians. The program was created in 1993 by the DOH to address the lack of doctors practicing in rural communities in the Philippines, which includes the far-flung communities.

During said orientation and signing, a total of 22 licensed doctors participated in said activity as a part of their deployment to different localities in Eastern Visayas. The activity was also graced by Universal Health Coverage (UHC)-Policy and Strategy Cluster Head, Dr. Ma. Teresa N. Caidic; Human Resource Management Unit Head, Farida M. Mateo; Human Resource Development Unit Head and Training Specialist III, Daisy R. Gorgonia; and Human Resource Development Unit (HRDU) Training Specialist II, Joreena A.
