MAYOR LUCY AND CONGRESSMAN RICHARD CHAMPION GREEN INITIATIVES AT LOCAL WORKSHOP. The Local Government Unit of Ormoc spearheaded by City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez and 4th District of Leyte Representative Richard I. Gomez joined the second day of the Local Inception Workshop for the Green LGU Project held at Carlosta Hotel on Thursday (August 1). The workshop is part of a broader effort to advance green initiatives within local government units (LGUs), featuring a series of presentations and discussions led by experts and stakeholders.
UNDP Project Manager Moeko Saito Jensen provided insights into the project’s goals and the support available for LGUs. The agenda included sessions on best practices for waste reduction, innovations in energy efficiency, and strategies for promoting renewable energy.
During her keynote address, Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez emphasized the importance of actionable steps in environmental protection, saying, “We cannot control the problem, but we can control the possible solutions. The more people we educate, the easier it will be for this initiative to thrive.” In attendance too at the said workshop was City Councilor Lalaine A. Marcos and LGU-Ormoc employees.
