ORMOC CITY CELEBRATES ARBOR DAY WITH A SPIRITED TREE-PLANTING EVENT IN BRGY. CABINTAN. Ormoc through its City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) celebrated Arbor Day with a spirited tree-planting event in Barangay Cabintan on Friday (August 16).
The event, held annually on the third Friday of August, underscores the importance of tree-planting and environmental conservation with this year’s Arbor Day celebration in Cabintan marking the collective effort of Ormocanons to promote ecological awareness and enhance the local environment.
Accordingly, dedicated volunteers planted a total of 250 seedlings, including native species such as Molave, Narra, and Toog, in various areas of the barangay. Chairperson of the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy Conservation, City Councilor Lalaine Marcos was in attendance and delivered a keynote speech highlighting the significance of the day. Marcos expressed her vision of transforming Cabintan into the city’s “little Baguio,” emphasizing its potential with its naturally cool climate, abundant vegetation, and fresh morning air.
