ORMOC’S COMMUNITY-BASED TOURISM ORGANIZATIONS COMPLETE 8-MONTH TRAINING ON TOURISM L.E.A.D.S. The Tourism L.E.A.D.S. program in Ormoc City has reached a significant milestone on November 12, 2024 during its culminating activity at the Ormoc City Hall-Multipurpose Hall. The event highlighted the successful completion of a comprehensive 8-month training that empowered the city’s Community Based Tourism Organizations (CBTOs) to enhance their tourism management skills and business strategies across barangays, positioning them for long-term success in the business and tourism industry.
Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez, who attended and spoke during the event, highlighted the significance of the community and the beauty of the people. “More than our natural resources, ang bahandi sa usa ka lugar, ang katawhan. The soul of a city is really its people,” Mayor Lucy said in her keynote speech.
Accordingly, the concluding activity signified not only the end of the training program but also the start of a new chapter for Ormoc City’s community-based tourism activities and stronger and skills-equipped CBTOs.
The event was also graced by Leyte 4th District Representative Richard I. Gomez, OCTO Head Nelson Alindogan, Tourism Office Site Development Officer Ira Bantasan, PESO Officer Josephine Hermosilla, Coop Officer Romy dela Cruz, and City Agriculture Officer Imelda Remollo.
