ON MONDAY, January 27, 2025, a total of 579 scholars under the LGU-Ormoc Scholarship Program received their monthly allowances during a distribution event held at the DepEd Ormoc City Division Training Hall. Among the beneficiaries, 523 scholars received a PHP4,000.00 cash allowance, covering two months (October-November 2024) while 56 scholars were given PHP12,000.00 for four months (August-November) for the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025 that included a PHP4,000.00 book allowance per semester. Additionally, 89 scholars received a PHP2,000.00 one-month allowance.
In their messages, city officials from the local government unit highlighted their ongoing commitment to helping students pursue college education by offering scholarship programs and making sure that financial limitations do not affect their educational success. Indeed, the LGU-Ormoc intends to maintain and improve the scholarship program, in keeping with its commitment to investing in young people’s future.

Gomez, Former Vice Mayor Leo Carmelo Locsin, Jr., City Councilor Nolito Quilang, City Councilor Peter Rodriguez, City Councilor Burt Pades, City Councilor Edmund Kierulf, City Councilor Jasper Lucero, City Councilor Caren Torres Rama, City Councilor Lalaine Marcos, and SK Federation President Krizea Caessandra Mercadal.
