PEOPLE FLOCKED FOR THE PHP35.00 PER KILO OF MILLED RICE sold by the Ormoc City Seed Growers Agriculture Cooperative (OCSGAC) as a part of the “Handog Pasasalamat sa OCSGAC Part 2, Valentine’s Day Special,” which took place at the Ormoc City Hall Lobby on February 14, 2025. According to OCSGAC Chairman Paulito Cotiangco, a maximum of 5 kgs. of rice were sold per buyer. Cotiangco hopes to inspire other cooperatives to actively join this endeavor to help alleviate the costs of rice, especially during this time of inflation, and for being grateful for their cooperative’s bountiful harvest. “This handog pasalamat is payback to other fellow Ormocanons and our way of saying thanks for the abundant harvest we have. We hope to have more Handog Pasalamat for the coming years,” he said. Accordingly, the OCSGAC was able to sell 36 sacks of rice. The same activity was initially done last year in June 2024. The said activity was in partnership with the City Agriculture Department (CAD) and Cooperative Development Authority (CDA). (By Gwen Maurillo / EV Mail FEB. 10-16, 2025 issue)
