ON MAUNDY THURSDAY, APRIL 17, 2025, on the First Day of the Paschal Triduum, the faithful in Ormoc gathered for the Eucharistic Celebration of the Lord’s Supper, commemorating Christ’s final meal with His disciples. In his homily, Rev. Fr. Maynard Flores reminded the faithful that it matters not to God how many servants a person has, what matters is how many people that person has served.

During the Washing of the Feet, Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez assisted Fr. Flores. It was a powerful expression of how the Church and the State, while constitutionally distinct, are called to journey together in serving the people and advancing the common good—as true servant leaders.

Later in the liturgy, Leyte 4th District Representative Richard Gomez solemnly carried the Guidon, leading the procession of the Blessed Sacrament to the Altar of Repose. Then, Mayor Lucy led the faithful in the Prayer of Consecration to the Blessed Sacrament.

It was a solemn and heartfelt commemoration, one that truly embodies the faith which Ormocanons hold dear. (Grabbed from the City Government of Ormoc FB Page / EV Mail APRIL 14-20, 2025 issue)
