BAYBAY CITY – A 41-year old technician, who is also said to be an alleged member of the Batang Samar Leyte (BSL), was found dead on the national road of Barangay Hibunawan, Baybay City, Leyte, at about 11:50 P.M. of January 24, 2025.

The victim, identified as alias “Garry” is said to be married and a resident of Sitio Ceinda, Barangay Gabas of said city. According to the Baybay City police, the suspect/s of said incident are still unidentified; and that on the day of discovery, the Baybay City Police Station received a call from the Baybay Emergency Rescue Unit (BERU) regarding a body found in the area. Initially, the BERU had been informed of a vehicular incident, but upon arrival and confirming the victim’s condition, they discovered gunshot wounds on various parts of the body of said victim, so they contacted the police station.

Upon receiving said information, the Alert Team from Sub Station-1 quickly responded to verify the report. Upon reaching the crime scene, they confirmed the presence of a lifeless body with gunshot wounds. The victim was described as medium-built, wearing gray shorts, a black t-shirt, and a helmet, and with a “BSL” (Batang Samar Leyte) tattoo. The team immediately cordoned off the area to preserve the scene.

Furthermore, the investigator on the case conducted a thorough investigation and successfully identified the victim; however, the suspect and the motive behind the crime remain unknown.

Meanwhile, the Leyte Provincial Forensic Unit (LPFU) Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team, who processed the crime scene, recovered seven fired cartridge cases.
