ORMOC CITY – An inmate died after hanging himself inside his prison cell at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) located in Brgy. Alta Vista, this city on March 3, 2023.
The victim was identified as Mario Globa, 45, from Barangay Tambulilid, and is facing charges of acts of lasciviousness.
Based on the police report, the new duty jail officers conducted a head count, and when they went to the second floor where the victim was located, they found him hanging from a cloth.
Accordingly, the victim was alone in his cell because he was being quarantined.
Jail officers quickly helped the victim, but he was not moving anymore, accordingly, which prompted said jail officers to bring him to the Ormoc District Hospital, where he was declared dead by the physicians on duty. By Gwen Maurillo (EV Mail Feb. 27-March 5, 2023 issue)
