ORMOC CITY – A 32-year-old carpenter was found hanging from a mango tree early Tuesday morning at around 5:30, December 31, 2024, at Sitio Cantalib, Brgy. North, this city.
The victim, identified only as “Pedro,” a resident of Purok Sampaguita, Nadongholan, Brgy. North was discovered by a local resident known as “Toto,” who, while tending to his carabao, spotted the victim hanging from the branch of a mango tree. The victim reportedly used his torn black t-shirt to hang himself.
Personnel from the Ormoc City Police Station 1 (PS-1) arrived at the scene and coordinated with the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) to process the area. Investigators recovered the victim’s cellular phone, a black wallet containing a national ID, and cash amounting to PHP4,750.00 in different denominations. The recovered items have since been turned over to the victim’s father.
Initial findings indicate no visible injuries on the victim’s body, and authorities are working to determine if foul play was involved.
