ORMOC CITY Election Officer, Atty. Ramon J. Dadulla, Jr. of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Office-Ormoc, is urging Ormocanons to register early for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled on October 20, 2023.

According to Dadulla, it is best to register now and process at the Ormoc City Superdome’s COMELEC office to avoid long lines caused by last-minute voter registration.

Voter registration started on December 12 and will run until January 31, 2023.

Dadulla also emphasized his call to the public regarding voter registration because there are no specific dates yet if an extension will be granted, so, he said, to take advantage of the opportunity to register early.

The City Election Officer also revealed plans for a voter registration satellite in this city’s malls.

Accordingly, registrants who are 15 to 17 years old should bring with them upon registration a school ID, or any valid proof of identification, or a birth certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), or if there is no ID or birth certificate, the registrant may bring a barangay certificate.

Meanwhile, for registrants who are 18-year-old and older, the COMELEC requires both a valid ID and a birth certificate.

Aside from registration, voters can also apply for the transfer of registration records, the reactivation of voting status, and the correction or change of entries in the voter registration record.

Registrants may go to the office of the election officer or satellite registration sites in their areas from Monday to Saturday, including holidays, from 8:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon. It can be recalled that the BSKE was supposed to be held last December 2022 but was moved to October of this year following a call from Congress of the need to move it on a later date and year.
