ORMOC CITY – The Schools Division of Ormoc City organized a training-workshop for teachers at Carlosta Hotel on August 14, 2024, focusing on innovative strategies and instructional techniques aimed at improving literacy and numeracy skills among students.
The event is part of Project LUCY 2.0, that is, the Literacy Enhancement and Uplifting Numeracy through Collaboration and Support for Struggling Learners in the Youth Learning Camp, which seeks to address educational challenges through collaborative support.
Dr. Carmelino Bernadas, CESO V and Schools Division Superintendent, opened the workshop praising fthe Local Government Unit of Ormoc City and its unwavering commitment to education under Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez. “Project LUCY 2.0 represents a significant step forward in our efforts to provide high-quality education. This initiative not only supports our teachers but also ensures that we are equipping our students with the necessary skills to succeed,” Bernadas said.
The workshop featured a range of sessions on innovative teaching techniques and strategies for enhancing classroom engagement.
On the one hand, Dr. Alejandro Almendras, Chief Education Supervisor-CID, along with Public Schools District Supervisors Eva Sios-e and Dr. Abel Dayandayan, contributed their expertise to the training. Representatives from Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), including Georgina Orbeta, Maybelyn Paden, Jessie Pabilar, Erron Nicol, Victor Arcuino, Alan Pareja, and Adonis Jose Aldiano, were also present, highlighting the collaborative effort to improve educational practices in the region.
