PERSONNEL FROM the Samar Police Provincial Office (SPPO) and the Intelligence Division of Police Regional Office-Eastern Visayas (PRO-8) retrieved various high-powered firearms in Barangay San Jose, Calbayog City, Samar on April 14, 2025.
According to SPPO’s information, the precise location of the firearms’ burial was identified by an informant. The police operatives recovered a blue sack containing one unit 9mm KG9 marked Colt AR15 with Serial Number (SN) 7160064, with magazine; one unit 9mm KG9 without markings, with magazine; one unit Colt caliber .45, with SN 539304, loaded with five live ammunition; one unit Colt caliber .45, with SN 593047, loaded with four live ammunition; one unit Colt caliber .45, with SN 178352, loaded with five live ammunition; one unit Colt caliber .45 without SN, loaded with five live ammunition; one unit Colt caliber .45 without markings or SN, loaded with four live ammunition; and four pieces of fired cartridge cases of caliber 9mm.
The recovered firearms are presumed to have been used in past operations by members of the Managaysay Potential Private Armed Group, which was established and headed by the late Jimmy Managaysay. The said organization is suspected of involvement in a number of crimes in the province.
According to SPPO Director Colonel Antonietto Eric Mendoza, the said operation was a major success in keeping with the 100-day preparation for the upcoming national and local elections. “We commend the dedication of our operating units and the cooperation of our community partners. Together, we will continue to uphold peace and security in Samar through focused law enforcement operations and proactive intelligence gathering,” said Dir. Mendoza.
