ORMOC CITY – On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy for the 2025 midterm election has finally concluded; and in this city, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC)-Ormoc City office has confirmed that there are a total of 26 candidates vying for public elective positions.
Accordingly, the city has two candidates for mayor, two for vice-mayor, and 22 individuals running to become a Sangguniang Panlungsod Member; among them are two independent candidates.
During the week-long filing, candidates expressed their desire to serve the people in the community and offered their plans and ideas, from economic growth, social welfare, to public safety.
On the one hand, in light of the approaching elections, city officials highlighted the significance of voter participation and asked people to spend some time learning about the candidates and their platforms.
