TACLOBAN CITY – A 74-year-old Israeli national was found dead on the shore in Brgy. Matanggo, Almeria, Biliran on Tuesday (May 20).

The said foreigner was staying at Soyin Beach Resort in Brgy. Talahid of said town. Reports disclosed that fishermen saw the foreigner lifeless. Accordingly, the foreigner has been a regular customer of Soyin’s Resort since 2016 and would usually stay there for six months then return to Israel. 

According to the resort staff, he goes out to swim daily and then return to his room by 4:00 in the afternoon. However, the staff noticed that the latter had not returned since he went swimming on Monday. After seeing no signs of him, they sought the assistance of the Naval Coast Guard and started the search and rescue operation, which turned out futile. 

During the initial findings of his post-mortem examination, the subject sustained small abrasions on his face and head. He died due to drowning. 

The victim had a history of fatigue. He was rescued at sea by the Coast Guard and concerned residents last March 2025. (By Marie Tonette Marticio/EV Mail  MAY 19-25, 2025 issue)
