KANANGA, LEYTE – The 15th Commencement Exercises of the Keitech Educational Foundation Incorporated were successfully carried out at the multipurpose building of Keitech’s Leyte Campus, located in Barangays Rizal and Hiluctogan of said municipality, on November 29, 2024.
There were a total of 90 graduates who successfully completed their in-campus skills training under specialized programs, which included 22 individuals who took up Hotel and Restaurant Services, 24 in Construction Hand Craftsman II, 23 individuals in Heavy Industrial Multi-Process Welding I, and 21 in Construction Hand Craftsman I.
The said graduates are a testament to Keitech’s mission of honing less fortunate individuals into world-class skilled professionals to be prepared for opportunities globally.
The said institution is a training center that offers values-based technical and vocational education that is supported by the First Generation-owned Energy Development Corporation (EDC).
First Gen-EDC is the largest and only 100% renewable energy company in the Philippines, with an installed capacity of 1,484.13 MW. For over four decades, they have continued to deliver clean, renewable, and affordable energy to Filipino businesses and communities.
During said graduation, Atty. Allan V. Barcenas, President of the said institution, shared that Keitech has maintained a remarkable 100% certification passing rate, highlighting its dedication to quality education and skills training. Barcenas told the graduates that their success is a testament to their hard work and resilience.
“We hope you go on to become builders of a better tomorrow,” he said.
On the other hand, on behalf of Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez, Councilor Gregorio Yrastorza III congratulated the graduates and imparted that education is the greatest equalizer. “It prepares us for the challenges of the world and opens doors to endless opportunities,” he said.
Meanwhile, it was Vice Mayor Miguel Tan who represented Kananga Mayor Matt Torres, wherein he encouraged the graduates to take advantage of opportunities and be grateful for the situation they are in. “Grow where you are planted,” he said.
Moreover, this year’s Oscar M. Lopez Award of Excellence awardee, Mark James Navarro, gave his valedictory address in which he recounted his inspirational journey. He was born to parents who couldn’t afford to finish their elementary school and was a construction worker before learning about the Keitech scholarship program from a friend. “Keitech taught me the value of hard work and perseverance,” he stressed. Furthermore, when he presented the candidates for graduation, school administrator Erwin Magallanes commended the institution’s steadfast dedication to creating a world-class workforce. He reaffirmed Keitech’s goal of developing people’s discipline and responsibility while giving them the tools they need to thrive in a competitive labor market. The momentous event was also graced by Regional Director Dr. Dan Navarro of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) VIII.
