ORMOC CITY – The Kiwanis Club of Buenas Ormoc has inspired young pupils in going back to school after over two years of staying and studying from home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The said civic group joined this year’s “Brigada Eskwela” choosing Mahayag Elementary School, in partnership with TAU GAMMA PHI / TAU GAMMA SIGMA (Mahayag Chapter).

According to Ms. Inday Flores, their club turned over cash amounting to Php 10,000 sponsored by Nebraska Farmer through Kwn Susan Penserga, in order to help in the rehabilitation of the school’s playground. In addition, they gave away five boxes of Mana Pack Rice, which is good for three months and which will be used by the school for the feeding program of underweight learners. The students, finally, were able to receive slightly used clothes as well from Kiwanis. Kiwanians, Ms. Flores said, are always thankful for the chance that they are of help especially to the school children because “we believe that education is the most powerful weapon for changing the world.” By Josie Sersena (EV Mail August 29-September 4, 2022 issue)
