ORMOC CITY – A total of 396 Ormoc Siglaro Elites competing for the 2025 Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) received shoes and uniforms from LGU-Ormoc at the Ormoc City Fencing Hall on February 21, 2025.
The said distribution was spearheaded by city officials led by City Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez. Accordingly, the said athletes are set to compete in Maasin City and Tacloban City. The athletes received a complete set of uniforms flaunting Ormoc’s signature white and blue colors, together with parade and playing shoes for the EVRAA.
During said distribution, Mayor Lucy urged the athletes to bag medals and give honor to the city, saying, “Pugngan ang pwersa, ilubong ang kontra,” the mayor said.
Meanwhile, on February 17, 2025, a total of 111 Ormoc Siglaro Elites competing for the EVRAA Meet in Dolores, Eastern Samar also received the same sports gear. The same distribution was also graced by city officials led by Mayor Lucy together with Leyte 4th District Representative Richard I. Gomez.
This year’s EVRAA Meet will be held in Eastern Samar, Tacloban City, and Maasin City on February 20-March 9, 2025. According to the Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Memorandum No. 1572 series of 2024, the competitions for baseball, billiards, boxing, futsal, sepak takraw, softball, and table tennis were held in Eastern Samar on February 20-23, 2025 while arnis, badminton, basketball, chess, football, pencak silat, volleyball, and wushu will be done in Maasin City on February 27-March 2, 2025. Finally, archery, athletics, dance sports, gymnastics, special games, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, and wrestling will be held in Tacloban City on March 6-9, 2025.
