TACLOBAN CITY – A 12-year-old girl who went missing on Teacher’s Day was found dead on Sunday, at 4 P.M., in Barangay San Antonio in Basey, Samar.

The body was already in a decomposing stage when it was found by a tuba (coconut wine) gatherer.

The police identified the cadaver to be that of the Grade 7 girl from Barangay Can-abay, who was last seen by his father on Wednesday.

Accordingly, she was about to surprise her teacher on Teacher’s Day at Simeon Ocdol National High School in the said town.

She was identified by her family through the clothes she was wearing.

The family seeks justice for the child’s demise.

The search for the missing girl went viral on social media when her family posted in search for information on the whereabouts of their child whom they thought went missing at around 2:30 P.M. of Wednesday.

A forensic examination of the cadaver was conducted to determine the cause of her death. Police also launched a follow-up investigation on the incident. By Marie Tonette Marticio (EV Mail October 10-16, 2022 issue)
