ORMOC CITY – Ormocanon and Albuerahanon farmers were among the beneficiaries during the distribution of Fuel Subsidy Intervention Cards (IMC), which took place at the City Agriculture Department (CAD) on February 12, 2025.

The said activity was spearheaded by the Local Government Unit of Ormoc and the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 8 (RFO8). A total of 104 Ormocanon and 64 Albuerahanon farmer-beneficiaries received three thousand pesos (PHP3,000.00) each worth of fuel subsidy.

As officer-in-charge (OIC)-Mayor, it was City Councilor Lalaine Marcos who led the said distribution together with Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer (APCO) Leyte, Fabian Aldiano of DARFO8, Agricultural Technologist Warren Maskariño of LGU-Albuera, and CAD-OIC Rhea Pañares. Accordingly, the said beneficiaries were among the 833 eligible farmers in Leyte Province who received a fuel subsidy. DA provides a fuel subsidy to farmers and fishers who own or rent machinery for agriculture, which aims to help them with the rising cost of fuel. (By Gwen Maurillo / EV Mail FEB. 10-16, 2025 issue)
