ORMOC CITY – The turnover ceremony of the Ormoc City Evacuation Center Station 1, which costs PHP 34 million to build, was finally done on Friday, March 10, 2023.
The said facility is located at the National Housing Authority (NHA) in Brgy. Dolores, this city.
On behalf of Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez, it was Ormoc City Councilor Atty. Jasper Lucero who led the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the said facility together with City Administrator Vincent Emnas, Engr. Peter Scheler V. Soco of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 4th District Engineering Office (DEO), Pol. Col. Nelvin Ricohermoso of the Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO), and Brgy. Dolores Barangay Chief Pedro Pepito.
The said infrastructure was successfully built by the DPWH Leyte 4th DEO, led by Engr. Allan Eway. It, accordingly, has a clinic; female, male, and persons with disabilities (PWD) comfort rooms; a prayer room; a storage room; a camp manager and admin office; a mess hall; a breastfeeding area; a hall that can be used as a basketball court; and parking spaces.
The facility furthermore can also be used for official activities such as seminars and workshops, except during calamities when it becomes an official evacuation center.
The management body or team of said facility is composed of the Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO)-Ormoc, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), City Social Welfare Department (CSWD), General Services Department (GSD), and the City Admin Office.
CDRRMO head, Ciriaco Tolibao, also added that approximately 200 individuals can be accommodated in the said facility.
The activity was also attended by Dra. Sarah Hermoso of City Health Department (CHD), Forester Rosilyn Sanchez of ENRO-Ormoc, Domardoni Cayanong of GSD, Maribel Gucela of CSWD, Architect Nathaniel Cubi of DPWH Leyte 4th DEO, and the barangay council of Brgy.
