ORMOC CITY – This city’s 21 barangays with fully functional KaaLambuan Reading Centers received Wi-Fi units from the local government unit of Ormoc on January 20, 2025 with the distribution happening at the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Ormoc Field Office.

The said initiative is part of the Connectivity Enhancement Program of the said LGU in partnership with DILG-Ormoc through its KaLambuan Project. Accordingly, LGU-Ormoc, led by City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez, purchased said units as their way of supporting the innovation to strengthen the reading centers of this city.

The distribution of Wi-Fi units was led by City Local Government Operations Officer (CLGOO) Jean Redi T. Briones. The said PLDT Home Prepaid units were personally and blissfully received by Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairpersons from the said 21 barangays.

The first batch of recipient barangays included Alegria, Alta Vista, Cabulihan, Cagbuhangin, Camp Downes, Cogon, Curva, Danao, Doña Feliza Mejia, Donghol, Ipil, Luna, Macabug, Milagro, Naungan, Nasunogan, San Pablo, Barangay South, Quezon Jr., Tongonan, and Valencia. Accordingly, the said program is a further step in the direction of developing education and empowering young leaders to help improve their learning and digital access.
