TACLOBAN CITY – Over PHP387 million worth of suspected shabu were seized in a joint operation Friday, November 8, 2024, in Liloan Port, Southern Leyte. 

The operation was launched by elements of the Liloan Municipal Police Station, Maritime Police, Philippine Ports Authority-Liloan, Philippine Coastguard-Liloan, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 8-Seaport Interdiction Unit-Southern Leyte (Lead Unit), and the Southern Leyte Provincial Office.

The inspection took place at around 1:50 A.M. during the unloading of vehicles from a fast craft that had arrived from Surigao City. The said anti-illegal drug operation resulted in the confiscation of 57 teabags containing suspected shabu, weighing a total of 57 kilograms. The estimated street value of which is a staggering PHP387,600,000.00.

While no arrests were made during the operation, authorities have identified the suspected driver of the vehicle whose name appears on the manifest. The suspect is now facing charges under Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
