TACLOBAN CITY – Over PHP6.8 million worth of suspected shabu were seized in a buy-bust operation, Tuesday (June 18) in Brgy. Cabalquinte, Calubian, Leyte.

Four suspects, including two women involved in illegal drug activities, were also apprehended during the anti-illegal drug operation. The suspects were identified as Alias “Fritz,” 28, Alias “Hailey,” 42, Alias “Gin,” 41, and Alias “Noel.” All are residents of the said barangay. 

 Alias “Chic,” 42, a resident of said town, and identified as a high-value individual in illegal drugs managed to elude arrest. 

During the operation, authorities seized a block of transparent plastic containing suspected shabu, wrapped in green plastic with Chinese characters, drug paraphernalia, a short firearm, and other pieces of non-drug evidence. The total estimated weight of the recovered shabu is approximately one kilogram, with a street value of PHP6.8 million.

The arrested suspects will face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, as amended by RA 10640, and Republic Act 10591 for illegal possession of firearms. By Marie Tonette Marticio (EV Mail June 17-23, 2024 issue)
