TACLOBAN CITY – Over PHP57 million worth of suspected shabu was recovered by the local police after two farmers found them recently in barangay San Roque, San Isidro, Northern Samar.
The farmers turned over two white transparent plastic bags containing white crystalline substances suspected shabu. They said they discovered the plastic bags in an abandoned and dilapidated hut near their houses on July 14, 2024.
After receiving the information and the items from the two farmers, the local police proceeded to the area to verify. They then discovered a green sack that contained six more plastic bags of suspected shabu.
The police suspects that the people who found the plastic bags first were not aware of their contents so they might have opened and poured them into the ground. However, due to the continued rain, the substances have been dissolved. It was learned that the recovered suspected shabu weighs 8.399 kilograms with an estimated street value of PHP57,113,200.00. The items will be turned over to the Samar Police Provincial Office Forensic Unit for further examination. By Marie Tonette Marticio (EV Mail July 15-21, 2024 issue)
