ORMOC CITY – The Department of Agriculture (DA) Field Office 8 initiated the distribution of cash assistance to rice farmers of this city under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmers’ Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) program at SM Center Ormoc on Thursday (June 6).

The said DA program aims to bolster the livelihood of Filipino rice farmers and enhance the competitiveness of the local rice industry. Accordingly, the distribution event, attended by local officials and representatives from the DA, highlighted the government’s genuine commitment to supporting farmers and uplifting rural communities, and as spearheaded by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., this initiative is reflective of the administration’s dedication to addressing the needs of the marginalized sector and promoting sustainable agriculture.

For this reason, LGU-Ormoc has expressed its full support to the RCEF-RFFA program, recognizing its potential to drive economic development and improve the lives of farmers in the region through collaborative efforts between national government agencies and local authorities.

A total of 1,900 rice farmers from Ormoc and neighboring areas benefitted from the cash assistance, each receiving PHP5,000.00.

City Councilor Burt Pades, who attended the said distribution, expressed his support for the program, saying, “This assistance is a vital lifeline for our farmers, especially during these challenging times. It demonstrates the government’s dedication to uplifting rural communities and ensuring the well-being of our agricultural sector.”

Accordingly, distribution of cash assistance under the RCEF-RFFA program marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to support the agricultural sector and promote inclusive growth across the Philippines; and that, finally, as farmers receive much-needed support, the nation moves closer to realizing its agricultural potential and building a more resilient and prosperous future for all.
