ORMOC CITY – Senator Maria Imelda Josefa Remedios “Imee” Romualdez Marcos-Manotoc distributed various incentives to Ormocanons on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
Upon her arrival at the Ormoc City Airport, she was warmly welcomed by Fourth District of Leyte Representative Richard I. Gomez.
During her visit, she graced the distribution of PHP5,000.00 worth of groceries to 200 women solo parents who own a sari-sari store at the Barangay Doña Feliza Mejia covered court. Accordingly, this was in line with this year’s Women’s Month celebration, that is, recognizing women’s contributions to society and advocating for gender equality. The said initiative was also part of Sen. Imee’s #ImeeSolusyon flagship project, which aims to uplift communities through livelihood opportunities.
On the one hand, she also distributed financial assistance to 2,000 beneficiaries – fisherfolks, tricycle drivers, and habal-habal drivers – at the Ormoc City Superdome. These beneficiaries were given PHP2,000.00 each.
In her message, the good senator aims to prioritize addressing the needs of Filipinos, not only those who belong in the metropolitan cities, but also in the provinces. “Ang aking misyon ay tulongan kayong umangat at tulongan kayo sa lahat ng iyong pangangailangan (My mission is to help you rise and support you in all your needs),” she remarked.
She added that continuing her advocacy on valuing economic, infrastructure, agriculture and healthcare reforms benefits a holistic approach to the people and to the country.
These significant events were also attended by City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez, members of the 16th Sangguniang Panlungsod, enforcement agencies, barangay officials, and beneficiaries. (By Joanna Dueñas / EV Mail March 10-16, 2025 issue)
