THE ORMOC City Police Station 4 (PS-4), under the leadership of PCPT Jason N. Mateo, Officer-In-Charge, and in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), successfully conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Linao, Ormoc City, resulting in the arrest of a suspected drug peddler.

The suspect, identified as alias “Sol” is a 49-year-old female, married, unemployed, and a resident of Barangay Linao, and is listed as a street-level individual (SLI) in the anti-drug watchlist.

During the operation, authorities seized four (4) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets, one (1) small heat-sealed sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, a genuine PHP500.00 bill used as buy-bust money, and one (1) coin purse. After the arrest, the suspect, accordingly, was informed of the nature of her arrest and her constitutional rights in a language she understood. She was then taken to PS-4 for documentation and proper legal processing. Meanwhile, the confiscated items have been turned over to the Ormoc City Forensic Unit for further examination.

Criminal charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of RA No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended by RA 10640, will be filed against the suspect. (By James Gadiano / EV Mail JAN. 20-26, 2025 issue)
