THE UNITED Nations Office of Project Services (UNOPS) will soon install a waste treatment machine that will process medical wastes without the use of water in the city of Ormoc.

Accordingly, it was UNOPS Senior Project Manager Richard Mugacha who presented to Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez the Waste Treatment Machines during a courtesy call at the City Mayor’s Office last November 3, 2022.

The machines, which will be installed in December, will process medical wastes to reduce its massive aggregation; and accordingly, Ormoc City is the only local government unit identified by UNOPS as beneficiary of such a project.

Mugacha expressed his gratitude to the city mayor for a very efficient process on the approval of their documents to actualize their projects. Mayor Lucy thanked UNOPS for choosing Ormoc City as the project beneficiary. The procurement of the said machine was part of the request of the late Dr. Mario Rodriguez when he was still a city councilor. By Elmer Recuerdo (EV Mail October 31-November 6, 2022 issue)
