ORMOC CITY Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez spearheaded the City Peace and Order Council Press Briefing and the launch of the “Uphold Peace in Ormoc” campaign at the Ormoc City Hall Multipurpose Hall on Wednesday (July 17).
The event served as a platform to review the city’s achievements in maintaining peace and order during the first semester and outline future strategies. Mayor Lucy underscored the foundational importance of peace to the local administration, reflecting on Ormoc City’s transformation from a former drug capital to a model of tranquility and progress. She emphasized the city’s journey and the concerted efforts that have led to its current state of peace, urging residents to reflect on this transformation to fully appreciate its significance.
The “Uphold Peace in Ormoc” campaign aims to reinforce community involvement and support in sustaining peace throughout the city. It includes collaborative efforts among local government agencies, law enforcement, and community stakeholders to ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents.
During the press briefing, achievements in crime reduction, community policing initiatives, and proactive measures in public safety were highlighted. Mayor Lucy expressed gratitude to the City Peace and Order Council and all stakeholders for their commitment to maintaining Ormoc’s reputation as a beautiful and peaceful city.
