TACLOBAN CITY – A university employee yielded over Php 700,000 worth of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Baybay City, Friday, August 5, 2022.

The suspect was identified as Soliver Gumaod, 37, an admin aide of the Visayas State University (VSU), and a resident of Brgy. Sabang, Baybay City.

He is, accordingly, listed as a high value individual (HVI) in the illegal drug personalities of Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8).

Major J-Rale Paalisbo said a police officer who acted as a poseur buyer was able to purchase from the suspect a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu at the VSU Lower Campus.

They were also able to seize 30 more sachets of alleged shabu with an estimated weight of 100 grams.

The suspect, along with the confiscated non-drug evidence, was brought to the Baybay City Police Station for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, the drug evidence was brought to the PNP Crime Lab in Ormoc City for chemical analysis.  Major Paalisbo said charges for violations of Sec. 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are now being prepared for filing in court against the suspect.
