ORMOC BREAKS GROUND FOR VERY OWN CITY HOSPITAL. Fourth District of Leyte Representative Richard I. Gomez and Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez formally led the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ormoc City Hospital project in Barangay Sumangga on Friday, October 3, 2025 – and joining them were other city officials and local public servants. Accordingly, when completed, the facility will feature a two-storey main hospital building.

Mayor Lucy Torres Gomez emphasized that the project serves as a testament to patience and perfect timing as everything has fallen into place—not too late nor too early, but simply at the right moment. She further stressed that the hospital should also be well-designed, more than just a facility for treatment, but also as a place of comfort. “We envision the hospital to be a beautiful place where people will heal,” she said.

Mayor Lucy, alongside Representative Richard Gomez and the members of the 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod, all signed the site development plan for the upcoming hospital. The ceremony was capped with the symbolic groundbreaking rites, marking the start of construction and signaling that this milestone is only the beginning of more progress for Ormoc City.
