ORMOC CITY OFFICIALS LED BY MAYOR LUCY TORRES GOMEZ graced various groundbreaking ceremonies in four villages on Monday, September 29, 2025. In Barangay Mahayahay, Mayor Gomez, Vice-Mayor Leo Carmelo Locsin, together with Sangguniang Panlungsod members, broke the ground for the first phase of a covered court. Mayor Gomez said the covered court, when finished, will bear witness to many community activities.
The city officials also held a groundbreaking of a road concreting project in Barangay Mabini. Meanwhile, in Barangay Camp Downes, improvements for its covered court were also initiated. The facility will be upgraded with a gable cover and canopy, new gate, steel matting, bleachers, repainting works, and a rainwater harvester.
Finally, a road concreting project in Barangay San Pablo including the installation of cross drainage was started. Mayor Lucy T. Gomez emphasized that these projects are the fulfilment of the Ormoc Development Team’s, their local homegrown party, promises to the people specifically on investing in infrastructure that aims to improve quality of life of village people, and open opportunities for growth for them.
“We want to give back and provide you (Ormocanons) with the kind of public service that is genuine and true”, she added. Each project, it was learned, was alloted a budget of PHP 5 million. Ormoc City Vice Mayor Leo Carmelo Locsin, Jr., the members of the 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod, City Engineer’s Office headed by OIC Engr.
