P82-M CABUCGAYAN ROAD WIDENING NOW 63.63% COMPLETE. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)–Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) reports a 63.63% accomplishment on the ongoing PHP82-million road widening project located in Brgy. Salawad in the town of Cabucgayan. The project involves the concreting of additional lanes on both sides of the existing national road with a total length of 3.598 lane kilometers, including shouldering, drainage improvement, slope protection works, and the installation of solar street lights. Target completion is set for January 2026.

District Engineer Irwin L. Antonio said the project plays a vital role in supporting the province’s growing transport demands and economic activities. “This project will provide wider and safer roads, improving mobility and supporting economic activities in the province,” Antonio said. He added that the Biliran DEO envisions to widen the entire national road network within the province in phases, in line with DPWH National Standards. (PR/EV Mail OCTOBER 6-12, 2025 issue)
