BILIRAN BRIDGE NOW OPEN TO HEAVY VEHICLES WITHIN LOAD LIMIT. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)–Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) announced that the Biliran Bridge is now open to heavy vehicles strictly within the allowable vehicle type and load limit only. District Engineer (DE) Irwin L. Antonio emphasized that only heavy vehicles in consonance with the prescribed type of vehicles and load capacities are permitted to cross the bridge specifically, trucks with two axles (6 wheels) with a maximum allowed weight of 7,500 kilograms and semi-trailers with five axles (18 wheels) weighing up to 18,000 kilograms. “Heavy vehicles not included in the specified categories are prohibited from crossing the bridge,” DE Antonio stressed, adding that overloaded vehicles remain strictly banned to ensure the safety of motorists and to preserve the structural integrity of the bridge. While crossing the bridge, motorists are also reminded to pass only at the center lane, one vehicle at a time, no changing of gears, and no stopping within the bridge span. The DPWH appeals to the public for strict compliance and continued cooperation to maintain the safe and orderly flow of traffic along Biliran Bridge. (PR/EV Mail OCTOBER 20-26, 2025 issue)
