NEW ORMOC CITY DOG POUND FACILITY NOW OPERATIONAL. The PHP14.7-million newly constructed Ormoc City Dog Pound Facility located in Barangay Cagbuhangin is now operational after it was formally turned over on July 23, 2025. The activity was led by Leyte 4th District Representative Richard I. The modern facility has 58 modern dog kennels, an administration building, and a facility or a pet healthcare center for the veterinary care of the rescued animals. It is also protected by a perimeter fence for safety and control, and it has four isolation areas for dog quarantine for appropriate containment and recovery.
Moreover, a specifically created Dog Oasis Paw Park provides a recreational area where dogs may play, interact with others, and flourish in a safe and stimulating setting.
Additionally acknowledged during said event were Soulfulnest Yoga Ormoc (LYFEST), led by Annie Rose, for supplying dog food and grooming supplies, and the Energy Development Corporation (EDC), led by Andy Durog, for donating surgical equipment. (By Gwen Maurillo / EV Mail JULY 21-27, 2025 issue)
