TACLOBAN CITY – A Punong Barangay (PB) in Albuera, Leyte and his driver were shot at on Saturday (August 2) in Brgy. Tagbas, Albuera, Leyte.
The victims were identified as Enrico Barcelona, PB of Brgy. Tinag-an, and Sabel Gubalane, his driver, also a resident of said barangay. Initial investigation revealed that while the victims were on board Barcelona’s pickup truck, upon arrival at the bridge of Brgy. Tagbas, still unidentified assailants fired multiple times using unknown firearms.
Barcelona was reportedly struck in the back, while Gubalane suffered a grazing bullet wound to his head. Both victims were rushed to the nearest hospital in Ormoc City by the responding Albuera Rescue Unit and are in stable condition.
As of this writing, police officers are conducting a hot-pursuit operation for the possible arrest of the suspects.
