ORMOC CITY – A J&T rider was robbed by two unidentified suspects along the barangay road of Barangay Maliwaliw, Dagami, Leyte at around 1:45 PM on August 16, 2025.
The victim was alias “Jake,” 33 years old, male, married, a delivery rider, Filipino, and a resident of Barangay Calipayan, Burauen, Leyte.
The suspects accordingly stole his belt bag containing payment for the parcel amounting to approximately PHP12,000.00, his driver’s license, National ID, and TIN ID. They also took his cellphone and his motorcycle key.
According to police, at about 2:23 PM on said date, an individual named alias “Mike” went to Dagami Municipal Police Station (MPS) and reported that their delivery rider had been robbed at the said location. Dagami MPS personnel promptly went to the reported location to verify the report. By the time they arrived, the victim had already left the scene.
Initial inquiry found that the victim reported seeing two unknown people on a blue Yamaha Sniper motorcycle ahead of him, both going in the same way, while he was riding his service motorcycle toward Barangay Bolirao, Dagami, Leyte. Having delivered a package successfully in Barangay Bolirao, the victim started to head back toward the National Highway in Barangay Maliwaliw, Dagami.
The suspects flagged him down at the scene of the event, which was in a populated area, and pretended to borrow tools. When the victim stopped, one suspect pointed a short firearm at him while the other brandished a bladed weapon. The suspects took his belt bag containing cash and other valuable items.
They also took his cellphone and his motorcycle key; however, the key was later thrown into a rice field and subsequently recovered by the victim. The suspects then accordingly fled towards the National Highway in Barangay Maliwaliw, Dagami, Leyte.
