ORMOC CITY – A total of 29 octogenarian and nonagenarian senior citizens received a cash gift from the local government unit of Ormoc on September 2, 2025 with the distribution happening inside the Ormoc City Hall.
The said awarding of cash gift was led by Sangguniang Panlungsod Members Caren Torres Rama, the Chairperson of the Committee on Social Services, Population Management, and Vulnerable Sectors, Edmund Kierulf and Kia Mercadal.
Program beneficiaries aged 80, 85, 90, and 95 received PHP10,000.00 each.
The activity was also attended by the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) Head Amelita Villanueva and Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of the City Social and Welfare Department (CSWD) Maribel Gucela.
The said program is in accordance with Republic Act No. 11982, also known as the Expanded Centenarians Act of 2024, which was signed into law in February 2024, and now provides Filipino senior citizens with a cash gift of PHP10,000.00 during milestone ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95, in addition to the PHP100,000.00 for those reaching 100.
