ORMOC CITY – Two (2) resolutions have been approved by the Ormoc City Council, allowing City Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez, or the acting mayor, to sign contracts or agreements with the National Housing Authority (NHA) for the official turnover of completed housing projects in Barangay Mabini, this city.
The said resolutions were passed during the session of the 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Ormoc City on September 9, 2025. The first resolution, No. 2025-072, deals with Phintecstar Construction Inc.’s acceptance of housing units, power, and water distribution systems. On the other hand, the second resolution, No. 2025-073, ratifies the deed of donation and acceptance (DODA) for 188 fully developed lots, completed housing units, road networks, drainage, and sewerage systems from NHA.
The NHA Housing Project in Barangay Mabini, Ormoc City, aims to help the city and its residents by providing housing to families affected by Typhoon “Yolanda” who want to move permanently, as well as other families living in dangerous areas.
The project is in line with Republic Act No. 7279, otherwise known as the “Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992,” which declares it a policy of the State to uplift the conditions of the underprivileged and homeless by making available decent housing.
The LGU-Ormoc is the registered owner of a parcel of land covered by Transfer Certificate of Title No. 121-2024000963 with an area of 24,000 square meters located in Barangay Mabini, Ormoc City, a portion of which is where the housing project is constructed on.
