TACLOBAN CITY — A laborer killed his 77-year-old mother who failed to prepare dinner for him on Tuesday (October 7) in Sitio Riverside, Brgy. Macupa, Leyte, Leyte.
The suspect, identified as alias “Rick,” 35, was apprehended following a hot pursuit operation in Brgy. Belen of said town. According to initial investigations by Leyte Municipal Police Station, responding personnel found the victim deceased at the scene, with head injuries consistent with being struck by a stone.
The suspect’s sister reported that Rick had returned home from work and became enraged when he discovered that his mother had not prepared a meal for him. He allegedly struck her on the head with a stone, resulting in her immediate death.
After the incident, the suspect fled but was later caught. A neighbor said that the suspect is believed to be suffering from a mental illness. By Marie Tonette Marticio (EV Mail OCTOBER 6-12, 2025 issue)
