TACLOBAN CITY — A 48-year-old teacher was shot inside the Tanauan School of Craftsmanship and Home Industries in Tanauan, Leyte, Thursday (October 16).
The victim, identified as “Elize,” a resident of Brgy. Sto. Niño of said town sustained a gunshot wound to her right shoulder. The suspect, “Adam,” 46 years old and the victim’s estranged husband, was apprehended at the scene by the responding unit from Tanauan Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Upon arrival, officers found the suspect armed with a “balisong” and attempting self-harm. He was quickly subdued by the authorities. The victim has already been rushed to the hospital here by her colleagues when the police arrived.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspect arrived at the school and shot the victim without provocation. Following the shooting, he allegedly threw a .38 caliber revolver, onto the roof of a nearby building. The weapon was later recovered by police.
Authorities report that the couple was separated at the time of the incident. The suspect claimed jealousy fueled the attack, alleging that he discovered the victim was having an affair. By Marie Tonette Marticio (EV Mail OCTOBER 13-19, 2025 issue)
