TACLOBAN CITY – Three individuals were left dead while a seven-year-old girl remains missing due to severe flooding in Brgy. Bilwang, Kawayan, Biliran, Friday (September 26, 2025).

The victims include a 4-year-old girl; her sister, a 12-year-old girl, and a their grandfather, a 63-year-old widower, all residents of said place. Eljane Plaza, seven, is currently missing.
According to initial reports, a sudden surge of water from a nearby stream caused a flash flood that swept through Brgy. Bilwang, destroying homes and carrying away residents. 

Personnel from Kawayan Municipal Police Station, along with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), barangay officials, and residents immediately launched search and retrieval operations for the missing child.
The bodies of the deceased were found inside the barangay hall of Brgy. Bilwang and have been turned over to their families. Post-mortem examinations will be conducted at the Rural Health Unit of Kawayan. By Marie Tonette Marticio (EV Mail SEPTEMBER 22-28, 2025 issue)
