TACLOBAN CITY – The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) received over PHP300,000.00 on Monday (August 18) from a charity fun run to benefit PNP personnel facing serious and life-threatening illnesses.
Brig. General Jason Capoy, PRO-8 regional director, received the proceeds from the “Alay Takbo Para sa Damayang Otso” on July 26, 2025 joined by over 800 runners from the region. RD Capoy commended the initiative, calling it a first-of-its-kind effort within the PNP.
He also expressed gratitude to former Chief PNP General Rommel Francisco Marbil who initiated the “Damayang Otso” program during his tenure as PRO-8 regional director. He encouraged PRO-8 personnel to sustain their support for the program.
To date, “Damayang Otso” has supported a total of 28 personnel from the Police Regional Office 8. “Rest assured na habang ako ay nandirito, PRO-8 will remain committed to supporting charity events,” he said. By Marie Tonette Marticio (EV Mail AUGUST 18-24, 2025 issue)
